Rocket Languages review criteria
This course is freaking awesome, im a senior in high school and im going on a class trip to italy, this is a life saver. I really wanted to learn the language before going to the country and this is helping sooooo much i can't believe this is free!! AND it's sooooo helpful 100000/10 !!

The words stated don't always match what google translate states

Our lessons are designed to teach natural, conversational language rather than literal translations. Naturally there will be some difference with Google Translate and other translation software, but our goal is to help learners use the language in real-world contexts. For those phrases where a literal translation is necessary, you will see one on the bottom right of the phrase indicated by "lit." We appreciate your understanding!
You actually learn Spanish here. Not like in duolingo which is just there for some fun and monkey based games. With Rocket Languages you get to practice, rehearse and ...rehearse again ;-)

It would help, when attempting to pronounce these words, that the phonetic pronunciation was included. I believe that would help me a lot.

This course is helping my brother and I to learn Spanish. Even though we were raised on the US/Mexico border, we didn't have enough instruction to become fluent. So, here we are again, many years later, trying again. I appreciate that this program is very thorough, has excellent help on each section along the way. Thank you, Rocket Spanish!

I really enjoy the lessons and the multiple ways the information is reinforced - listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
However, there are two major issues for me.
First, each lesson begins with a video tutorial. I have an audio processing disability - it's hard for me to comprehend spoken words in a conversation or tutorial. My learning style is reading/writing, so I really need to be able read the transcript of the tutorials. The lessons aren't an issue because the spoken parts are short - no more than a sentence at a time . And I can replay it as often as I need to.
Second, the top right has a leaderboard, daily points, and a streak. Even though I can progress at my own pace, the presence of these statistics sets a competitive undertone that makes it stressful. I realize a lot of people like that, but there should be an option to disable it for those who don't.

You should be able to find the audio transcripts directly below the audio player in the Audio Lessons. If you’re having any trouble accessing them, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team (support@rocketlanguages.com) for help. As for motivational features like the leaderboard, you can turn this off in your profile settings. And if anything else comes up—or if there are other features you feel would better support your learning—we’d love to hear your thoughts. We’re always open to suggestions.
I did not deal with customer services so cannot comment.
I find the lessons long, but I can spend as long as I need to be sure I get it.
In addition, I like the fact that you can reset assignments and try them over and over.
