It is good for someone who knows nothing to be able to gain useful phrases and to practice the proper pronunciation. The material covers a good range of every day communication which is good if you are planning to use this for traveling. Probably a good jump start to begin using the language right away.

What I like about Rocket Chinese are: +Writing part: Makes you understand the strange writing system which the Chinese people use. Video recording on how to write letters makes you visualize how you are going to do this, instead of only knowing the theory. +Audio lessons: Its like a good conversation. Good mood. Nice personalities. Possible to upload to mobile. +Design: Simple. Progress is showed at the top and give you a little bit more motivation. +Culture: Interesting reading throughout the learning. Makes you understand China a little bit more.

Rocket Languages gives me the means to practise at any time, anywhere, whether on my computer, mobile or tablet, and this is what makes it different to traditional ways of learning a language. Even if it is only listening on the bus, or in the car, the ability to take the language with you allows you to immerse yourself in it whenever you want. Added to this are a variety of activities that help you to stay focussed, and keep boredom at bay.
