Rocket Italian is the best application for learning Italian; great dialogue and practice exercises reinforce learning in an enjoyable format
I am half Italian and Hispanic, I was adopted from South America and I never knew my native tongue which is Spanish. People have asked me if I am Italian and I always say I'm half....when in truth I look more Italian than Hispanic, I have always loved the Italian language and always wanted to learn, I helped my mom learn when she went to Italy last year and the basic words I picked up on quick, so, I had the itch to learn. Rocket Italian is amazing and I love it !!!! Highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn Italian or any language. BEST CHRISTMAS GIFT EVER !!!!

Buon Natale!
So far, so good. I have been using Duolingo, and it was good. But, I needed a change and a different method. My difficulties come with syntax and verb conjugation
I am using Rocket Italian as a review to the Italian I studied "Molti anni fa" in college so that I can be more fluent and approachable when I travel. I like the pace and the ability to skip around. However, the American accent of Alex is distracting and there is too much spoken English. I can see if a beginner is trying to get traction it might be okay. I am looking forward to moving up into the later levels. Overall, hearing so much English and the English accent is distracting. There are also some grammar errors in the translations along the way. For the price, I would expect more flawless execution. However overall, I like the conversational approach and the ability to hop around to get what I need to progress.
Rocket's multimodal learning formula works very well: listen, respond orally, respond in writing, translate both ways. This really hammers the language into your cortex via all channels. The voice recognition software, while not always perfect, is a remarkably useful feature. The help desk, finally, responds courteously to my comments.
My only wish is that the Rocket Italian team might themselves work very slowly and carefully through the whole course, seeking every occasion where a question and its corresponding answer does not match, and in general where the question is not sufficiently defined (number, gender etc.) to point unambiguously at the answer expected by the software. None of these glitches greatly reduces the effectiveness of the course, but their frequent occurrence is irritating and, to that extent, distracting.
Your subscribers could alert you to these glitches if a 'report problem' was attached to every event, not just some, where the subscriber must speak, write or press a button.

Thanks for your thoughtful review. We will be fully reviewing Rocket Italian in the next 2-3 months, and will pick up any ambiguous phrasing at that stage.
I just completed the beginner trial and will definitely pay for the service. I've tried other online sources to learn Italian but did not stick with any of them. When I reached the end of the lesson for today I couldn't believe I had been at it for a couple of hours. It kept my attention! Here is a hint if you don't have anyone to practice with: I have Amazon Alexa Show and I can ask her how to say anything in Italian and I will hear and see it on the screen so I can practice what I learn throughout the day or evening. When I learn more I can change Alexa to respond in Italian to me. Great way to use time during this CV 19 pause in life.
It's fun, interactive, and the whole family can learn not just my high school student. We are looking forward to visiting Italy with our new found language.
I've been using Rocket Italian since December 2019. I purchased Levels 1, 2, & 3-Instant Lifetime Access and the Travelogue. (Yes, I am committed to learn Italian.) I am on Unit I- module 6. In addition to Rocket, I use 2 other Apps/programs along with Rocket Italian. After 3/12 months of use, I feel I can write an accurate review.
Pros
1. I love the structured lessons
2. Like having the audios of Alex and Maria (audio lessons and reviews)
3. Like having the ability to record myself and mimic pronunciation
Cons (or possible areas to improve)
1. I wish there was a way to manipulate and build sentences rather than solely memorizing. (Maybe this happens in later units, I don't know.)
2. I wish that in lessons, such as in Language and Culture, where they may be over 90 terms to learn, that the lesson be divided in smaller lessons. Memorizing close to 100 terms is overwhelming and a big challenge. Maybe limiting the terms to a more manageable number would be beneficial to the learner.
3. I wish there was a method to answer questions on a lesson directly on the lesson page itself rather than on the forum. Also, I would appreciate if someone from Rocket could answer those questions rather than relying mostly other learners.
4.

Thanks for the detailed review Laura! I thought that I would comment on the cons; 1. Play it! is the best tool for this at the moment. We are looking into other tools to achieve this. 2. Rocket Italian is due for a total review later this year. At that stage the amount of phrases per lesson will be addressed. We know it's an issue and have been working at how to make it less of a slog yet maintain the comprehensiveness. 3. Great idea. I will look into this. 4. We used to have this as an extra paid feature but it was difficult to manage as it requires a lot more human resources to be able to do it.
Signed up for Rocket Italian and love it!!! The Interactive lessons are engaging and enjoyable. The reinforcement activities are a fantastic way to make sure you really absorb the lessons. Great system!
I've been using Rocket Italian since about March 2019 and I purchased the program because I am required to pass a language exam. I purchased all 3 levels and if you are someone traveling to Italy or learning basic conversational skills this program is great. However, if you have more intermediate needs this program is just ok. It would be nice if there were more breakdowns of the conversations once you get more advanced and provide simple words or phrases to translate. While building skills, the program will ask you to learn the verb to have and memorize extremely long sentences in the same lesson. This happens most lessons and is ineffective for my learning because it doesn't help you practice the skill and learn competency but memorization.
One of the tenses used most often in my work is the historic past and this tense is the one with the least information and preparation. Beyond that, what I've noticed is that the program pushes you to learn specific meanings of words. For example, in one lesson that began with the word "well" I responded with a translation of dunque. The program marked me wrong and was looking for allora. Both are acceptable translations and I am likely to come across both.
